Environmental Committee Organizational Meeting
Aug 15 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Dear Talbot County Democratic Forum members and friends:
I’m happy to announce the first meeting of the Forum’s reestablished Environmental Committee on Thursday, August 15 at 6:00 pm at our HQ on Dover Street.
I’m excited to invite you to a free showing of the Sierra Club film “Reinventing Power” which documents how hope and prosperity can be restored in small towns, farms and water-oriented communities with the rise of the Clean Energy Revolution across the USA. Here is the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xx4P2yOXDDs
Our goal is to progress environmental initiatives in our community. We will briefly explain the new organization structure and begin the active work of the committee. Choose to work on topic(s) that interest you. Some will invite guest speakers from the various environmental organizations and draw from their expertise. We will support their initiatives and share it in print or social media. Membership in the Forum is not a requirement! Bring your friends and neighbors!
Many of us maintain a special commitment to all aspects of the environment. Here is a great opportunity to join with members and non-members actively to participate in learning, discussing and creating positions on various aspects of environmental issues that support protection and support of the environment.
At the outset, our Issues Team will begin with sub-groups on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, the Chesapeake Bay, Proper Recycling, Sustainability and the Carbon Tax. The Public Relations/Advocacy Team will start working to publicize in print, electronic media and social media, information on the Green New Deal, the results of the various Issues sub-group meetings, the voting records of our state, federal and local representatives and promoting this information on social media.
This first meeting will be the first opportunity for you to join and work on topic(s) that of the highest interest to you. You will be able to sign up and participate in inviting great speakers from the various environmental organizations and work on positioning the Democratic Party as a key player in supporting the environment.
Membership in the Forum is not a requirement! Bring your friends and neighbors!
