The Economics of Trade and Tariffs
Mar 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
There are probably more misconceptions and misinformation about foreign trade and tariffs than any other topic in the world of economics. The current status of US trade policy is a critical factor affecting the overall health and future of our economy.
In this presentation, two important questions will be addressed: Who wins and loses when nations trade and what happens when foreign trade is restricted?
The answers to these questions will be surprising to most people and will put the current controversies about US trade policy into perspective. Along the way, you will discover the most important and least known law in all of economics.
The current US trade situation will also be explored using the most recent facts and figures.
The presenter will be Rick Schiming, former professor of economics at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He taught economics for 38 years and co-authored a textbook in economics.
